Child Nutrition - GRAHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions.  It providers nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day.  The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.

The Child Nutrition Program is a nonprofit, self supporting program that receives its funding from the federal government reimbursements and the price students pay to purchase a meal.  Meal prices are based on the actual cost of preparing and serving the meal and maintaining equipment.

Families who cannot afford to purchase their child's meals may apply for the Federal Child Nutrition Free/Reduced School breakfast and lunch program, which allows financially eligible students to receive free or reduced price meals any day they attend school.
